This week is about your clothe’s dryer maintenance and what you should be doing. I think we all know about cleaning out your lint screen with every load, but did you know you also need to clean your dryer vent as well?
This doesn’t have to be done as often as your lint screen, but I would recommend taking your dryer hose off twice per year to clean both where it connects to the dryer as well as where it connects to the wall. Just pull the stuck bits of lint out and you’re good to go.

Over time this built up lint can clog your vent and could become a fire risk.
You will also have a dryer vent on the exterior of your home where your dryer hose vents; it is generally on the opposite side of where you dryer hose enters the wall assuming your laundry room has an exterior wall. If it does not, you may have to walk around the exterior of your house to find it. Again, simply pull any built-up bits of lent from you exterior vent, and voila, you’re done. I would check the exterior vent monthly.
