ONE ROOM CHALLENGE: WEEK 6 – THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS

I can’t believe it is already week 6 of the One Room Challenge! The panic is beginning to set in a little, not gonna lie. You may have noticed, but we did not send a Week 5 blog out. The last two weeks has been a lot of little details and procuring items such as hardware, curtain rod pieces, etc. so I decided to combine into one blog for this week. If you missed our paint celebration when we finally got to put primer on the walls, you can catch up on that here.

If this is your first time on the blog -welcome! My name is Amanda, and I am a full time construction project manager, and spend my “spare” time building and designing as the creator of Steel Toed Stilettos. I am participating for the first time as a guest in the One Room Challenge as we completely transform our entryway. You can check out all the other amazing spaces and find your favorites to follow along with.

TEXTURES, COLORS, AND FINISHES

I am very picky when it comes to curtain rods so instead of trying to find the perfect one that fit all my parameters, I decided to…..you guessed…..build my own. I am squealing with excitement over all the little pieces that are starting to come in to bring it all together. Antique brass elements for both the curtain rod embellishments and the updated chest hardware will bring in warm elements which will mix so well with the wood tones. I am also bringing in some rich velvet details. I put together this flat lay and am IN LOVE. Y’all, the devil really is in the details!

WOOD ELEMENTS

Last weekend, my fiancé and I also picked out the walnut we will be using for our entryway table! I can’t stop looking at it. What makes it even more special is my brother sawed it on his sawmill and his neighbor was kind enough to plane it down for us.

The detail of that grain is just breath-taking! I can’t wait to see how this transforms into our entryway table.

Thanks for hanging out with us this week even though we didn’t have a lot of jaw-dropping progress to share on the entryway itself! However, its all these little details that are going to truly transform this space.

Xoxo,

Amanda
